Alex Arndt grew up in the DC area and flew the coup for the California music scene, shortly after college.
Before that, Alex participated in a variety of creative endeavors, including singing, acting, and songwriting. A self-taught guitar player, in college he started a band, Drive, with other friends at Virginia Tech. Alex shared the lead singer and lead and backup guitar positions. Drive played at local college venues as well as out of town venues. The band recorded five tracks on a Sept, 2001 E.P. and later recorded eight more tracks for a June, 2002 album. Four of these tracks were later put on an E.P. called Hotstash, What's Inside?
After moving to San Diego, Alex worked with a number of artists in different collaborative endeavors.
After experimenting with a well established punk metal band, Infamous Symphony (2002) and then a reggae band,
Tribal Quest (2003), Alex was eager to move on and perfect his own sound with a band more in tune with his
classic, innovative and fresh songwriting style. Alex next formed a band called Hot Stash with the former
drummer of Drive, Andrew McNally. The band's name then morphed into Groove Rite, and later Boom Boom Maxwell.
This band was a flamenco infused rock group where Alex was the lead singer, primary songwriter, and guitarist. Boom Boom Maxwell played at San Diego venues during 2004 and 2005. In Spring 2005, the band was beginning to see it's end coming near, but recorded an E.P. with Evan Hesse (Evan Hesse Productions (EHP), the band's lead guitarist/keyboardist as producer. After Evan chose to move to LA in June 2005 and the band was losing steam, it was decided this recording be released as Alex Arndt's solo E.P. entitled Rusty Ol' Guitar.
Since June 2005, Alex Arndt has been performing and recording as a solo artist throughout Southern CA.
Alex continues to create music that is heartfelt, completely inspired, and uncontrived. At every single
performance he gives everything he's got. Come out and judge for yourself!
Some of Alex's favorite bands include The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin,
Stone Temple Pilots
,
Red Hot Chili Peppers
,
Cold Play, and Radiohead.
